Two people are dead after a Friday morning shooting at a Central Michigan University (CMU) campus dormitory.
WSGW Radio in Saginaw reports the campus, nearby schools and even some businesses in Mount Pleasant were placed on lockdown as police searched for the suspect, 19-year-old James Davis, Junior. Students and staff were told to shelter in place. Police say the shooting was domestic in nature.
The school posted an alert around 9:30 a.m. on its Facebook page about shots being fired at Campbell Hall. An automated phone message from the school also was sent to students. The shooting occurred on the last day of classes before spring break.
The Central Michigan University Police Department has identified the victims as James Eric Davis, Senior, and Diva Jeneen Davis. They say the victims are the father and mother of the suspect. According to an update on the CMU website, the suspect is now in custody, after being seen and reported by an individual on a train passing through the north end of campus shortly after midnight.
