The Huron Humane Society recently came before the Alpena City Council with its annual budget request (February 19th).
The organization is asking for the City to allocate 18 thousand dollars ($18,000.00).
Humane Society Executive Director Natalie Francis said, "We feel the shelter is an important part of this community as we continue to focus on health and safety."
Francis also gave a breakdown of 30-day cost and care for a puppy, kitten, cat or dog. Totals for a cat are just over 185 dollars ($185.11) and over 197 dollars ($197.19) for a kitten. Totals for a dog are over 315 dollars ($315.28) and nearly 299 dollars ($298.70) for a puppy.
The council and city staff will consider and possibly budget for the annual request.
