Road Commission Accepts Material Bids

Alpena County Road Commission board members recently approved a variety of material bids.

As explained by Managing Director Larry Orcutt, locking in prices allows the commission to develop more accurate cost estimates for projects that are usually shared with townships in the county. If there is a request to apply gravel, apply dust control materials, or a paving / sealcoat project, expenses can be calculated using material cost data.

That allows for more accurate budgeting and planning projects for this summer.

Townships and the commission typically cost share projects on a 2/3rds - 1/3rd basis, the local government entity paying the larger portion and anything exceeding the agreed project cost.

Orcutt observed that most commission / township projects will be pretty much similar to previous years.
