If you're looking for something to do later this month (April 26th), go visit Lovells Township in Northern Michigan's Crawford County.

The community's historical society is hosting the 6th annual trout opener on Saturday, April 26th from 10 am to 4 pm.

The day will welcome Trout Fisheries Biologist Gaylord Alexander. Alexander, who retired from the Department of Natural Resources Hunt Creek Research Station near Lewiston, will discuss his trout research on the North branch of the Au Sable river from 1956 to 1995. Jeff "Bear"Andrews, a well known fly tier, will also demonstrate his skills.

Other features include a history of trout fishing exhibit in the log museum, historic river boats, period cars, a River guide tent, foot, and free casting with vintage bamboo fly rods.

The events are free and open to the public. Most events occur on Township Grounds.
