The Latest USA Today Men's Top-25 College Basketball Poll is out. Indiana is
ranked number-one after receiving 19 of 31 first-place votes. Michigan State is
up three spots to number-five. The Spartans will play host to the Hoosiers on
Tuesday night in East Lansing. Michigan dropped two spots to number-seven.
Michigan and Michigan State players earned both Big Ten individual honors this
week. Michigan's Trey Burke was named player of the week and Michigan State's
Gary Harris was honored as freshman of the week. Burke averaged 23.5 points and
shot nearly 60 percent from the field in a lopsized loss to Michigan State and a
win over Penn State. Harris had 17 points, three assists and three steals in the
75-52 win over Michigan on Tuesday at Breslin Center, and 14 points on Saturday
against Nebraska. It's the third time he's been named freshman of the week.
The All-Star break continues for the Pistons. Detroit, now 21-and-33 on the
year, will return to action on Tuesday night at home against Memphis. The NBA
trade deadline is set for 3 p.m. on Thursday. The Pistons are not expected to
make any big moves, but reports have said that various teams have shown an
interest in Will Bynum, Jonas Jerebko and Rodney Stuckey.
The Red Wings have recalled goaltender Jonas Gustavsson from Grand Rapids and
sent down goalie Petr Mrazek. Gustavsson, who has been sidelined with a groin
injury, is expected to backup starting goaltender Jimmy Howard on Tuesday night
