The Pistons and Spurs will meet tonight at the Palace of Auburn Hills. Detroit has dropped three straight, while San Antonio is riding an 11-game winning streak. Pistons center Andre Drummond is questionable after missing the moring shootaround with a sore back. Spurs forward Tim Duncan and guard Manu Ginobili are doubtful because of various injuries. Detroit is 13-and-14 at The Palace this season.
MSU and U-of-M will hit the hardwood on Saturday. Michigan State is at Purdue, while Michigan travels to Wisconsin. Guards Keith Appling and Gary Harris have been slowed by injuries this week at practice, but are expected to play for the Spartans. Forward Jordan Morgan is listed as questionable for the Wolverines because of a sore ankle.
The Red Wings have the night off. Detroit will return to action on Saturday afternoon at home against Edmonton. Forward Todd Bertuzzi is not expected to play against the Oilers after missing practice today with a sore back. On Thursday, the Red Wings halted a two-game skid with a 5-1 win at St. Louis. Detroit remains nine points behind Chicago in the Central Division.
Michigan State football coach Mark Dantonio has hired Air Force assistant Ron Burton to be the Spartans new defensive line coach. Burton replaces Ted Gill, whose contract was not renewed. He has 21 years coaching experience and has led the Falcons defensive line the past 10 seasons. He spent the 2002 season at Grand Valley State, helping lead the Lakers to a 14-0 season and the Division II national championship. He was also linebackers coach at Indiana and Eastern Michigan.
