The Michigan high School Coaches Association of Michigan voted on their top softball teams and three from Northeast Lower Michigan were included. They were Rogers City taking the Class "D" fourth spot, while Hillman was named fifth, and Onaway tenth.

The Alpena Drug Abuse Resistance Education program is sponsoring a basketball game between the D.A.R.E. All Stars and Detroit Lions alumni. The event takes place Friday (5-12) at Thunder Bay Junior High School in Alpena, starting at 7:30. Refreshments will be provided free to kids who attend. Pictures with, and autographs of the Detroit Lions players themselves will also be available. Tickets are $20.00 each, or $50.00 per family and can be purchased by calling 800-445-2143 or online at All proceeds stay local and it go into programs for students.
