Huron Shore Little League and Alpena Babe Ruth Merge
Wed, 16 Jan 2013 03:21:03 EST

Officials of the Alpena Huron Shore Little League and Alpena Babe Ruth have announced their merger.

The new entity will be known as Alpena Huron Shore Babe Ruth and will follow the Babe Ruth/Cal Ripken models.

Organizers say the merger came about in an effort to provide enhanced youth baseball and softball to all members of Alpena County and surrounding areas. While the community has enjoyed a long history with Little League International, merging resources and aligning with the Babe Ruth / Cal Ripken affiliation allows for more flexibility and greater opportunities to improve both existing programs.

Officials say they are gearing up for a wonderful 2013 season, with Winter Clinics already on the way. Baseball clinics will be held every Tuesday, and softball clinics will be held every Thursday. These sessions will take place at the APlex.

For more detailed information on these clinics and other upcoming events check out the Alpena Huron Shore Babe Ruth page on Facebook or email us at alpenahuronshore@charter.net

Baseball clinics will be held every Tuesday. The sessions will be split by age group. Players age 7 through 10 can participate from 6 to 7 pm. Players age 11 to 14 will have the 7 to 8 pm time slot. Cost per player per session will be $3. Softball Softball clinics will be held at the Rec Center every Thursday. The sessions will run from 6 to 8 pm. This will be open for players from age 7 through 16. (There will be no division of the time by age group.) Cost per player per session is $3.
