The Pistons and 76ers will meet tonight in Philadelphia. Detroit is coming off a 104-97 win at Cleveland. The Sixers have lost three of four games, including Saturday's 92-79 defeat against the Celtics. The Pistons, now 7-and-15 on the year, are just 2-and-10 away from The Palace. Detroit enters play with no significant injuries, while Nick Young will be a game-time decision for the 76ers because of a hyperextended left big toe.
The Lions are back home following Sunday night's 27-20 loss at Green Bay. The Lions haven't won a game in the state of Wisconsin since 1991, dropping 22 in-a-row. Detroit, losers of five straight, is now 4-and-9 heading to Arizona on Sunday. The Cardinals are coming off a 58-0 loss to the Seahawks.
The Tigers have agreed to a one-year deal with catcher Brayan (Brian) Pena. Pena batted .236 with two home runs and 25 RBI last season with the Royals. He has also played for the Atlanta Braves during his eight seasons at the major league level. General Manager David Dombrowski says the Tigers plan to use Pena as a back-up catcher to Alex Avila for the 2013 season.
Michigan State guard Gary Harris, who scored a season-high 20 against Loyola of Chicago and 13 against Arkansas-Pine Bluff, has been named Big Ten freshman of the week. It is the second time Harris has received the honor. On the season Harris is averaging 13.0 points and 2.6 rebounds, and his field-goal percentage is .533 on 40 of 75.
