The Lions were shorthanded on defense once again today at practice. Tackle Corey Williams and safety Louis Delmas missed today's session in Allen Park because of knee injuries. Head coach Jim Schwartz has both players listed as questionable for Sunday's game at home against the Colts. Meanwhile, offensive tackle Jeff Backus stretched with the team today, but is expected to miss a second straight game because of a hamstring injury.

The Pistons have hit the road. Winners of two straight, Detroit will begin a two-game trip tonight at Memphis. At 11-and-2, the Grizzlies enter the weekend with the NBA's best record. The Pistons, now 5-and-11, will play at Dallas on Saturday night before hosting the Cavs on Monday night at The Palace.

The Tigers have tendered contracts to all of their arbitration-eligible players. That includes Brennan Boesch, Max Scherzer, Rick Porcello, Doug Fister, Austin Jackson, Alex Avila and Phil Coke. Detroit will not tender a contract to left-handed pitcher Daniel Schlereth. The deadline for teams to tender contract offers to players who are eligible for arbitration is today. Eligible players who are not offered contracts by their current teams before midnight tonight will become free agents.
