Torii Hunter is the newest Detroit Tiger. According to multiple reports, the
free-agent outfielder has agreed to a two-year, 26-million-dollar contract. The
deal is pending a physical exam. The 37-year-old Hunter hit .313 with 16 home
runs and 92 RBI with the Angels this past season.

The Pistons have hit the road and will play tonight at Philadelphia. At
0-and-8, Detroit is off to its worst start in franchise history. The Sixers had
a three-game winning streak halted in Monday's 105-96 loss to the Bucks. The

Red Wings forward Valtteri Filppula is expected to miss the next six-to-eight
weeks because of a sprained MCL. Filppula suffered the injury on Monday while
playing in Finland. Filppula has one year left on his contract. He scored a
career-high 23 goals for the Red Wings last season.

The Lions got back to work this morning with a practice session in Allen Park.
Receiver Calvin Johnson, safety Louis Delmas, defensive end Cliff Avril and
defensive tackle Corey Williams were sidelined with various injuries. Johnson
normally skips at least one practice each week, then plays on Sunday. Detroit
is home to Green Bay this weekend.
