The Tigers and A's will play Game 4 of their American League Division Series
tonight at the Coliseum in Oakland. Detroit, now holding a 2-1 lead in the
best-of-five series, will hand the ball to Max Scherzer. Scherzer went 16-and-7
during the regular season, but also missed time in the rotation because of
shoulder and ankle injuries. Rookie A.J. Griffin will get the start tonight for
the A's.

Former Lions defensive tackle Alex Karras died this morning in Los Angeles. The
77-year-old Karras had suffered from various health issues in recent years,
including dementia and stomach cancer. Karras, who was drafted by the Lions in
1958, played twelve seasons in Detroit. In the 1970s, Karras worked as a
co-host of ABC's "Monday Night Football." He may be best known as the dad in
the 1980s TV sitcom "Webster." Karras also appeared on the big screen in movies
such as "Paper Lion," "Blazing Saddles" and "Porky's."

The Pistons are home to the Toronto Raptors tonight at the Palace of Auburn
Hills in the preseason opener for both teams. Fans in Detroit will notice a
handful of new faces in the lineup. Kyle Singler will make his Motor City debut
after playing last season in Spain. Rookies Khris Middelton, Andre Drummond and
Kim English are also expected to make their Detroit debut tonight.
