NLA User Group Meetings Set For The First Thursday Of Each Month

Starting this Thursday (4th), the Northern Lights Arena will host user group meetings on the first Thursday of the month at 6:00 P.M.

NLA Manager Denny Dacey says such gatherings were intended to be developed some time ago, but never materialized as new managers - the Park Family Foundation - were getting used to the facility and operations over the past year.

Last month, a similar session was held and user groups requested the monthly sessions.

One of the issues that Dacey is looking for help on... ideas or programs to continue to make summer ice a viable option. He noted that 150 hours of ice at a reduced rate to entice and encourage use was sold and around 400 hours is the break even point.

"You know we're not in it to get rich, it's a non profit organization so that's where we'd like to keep it, but we want to break even," Dacey said.

Dave Guzman of the Blue Line Club noted that perhaps a higher summer rate should be charged as opposed to losing the availability altogether.

That is likely one topic to come up during the seven sessions which are scheduled through and including April 4th at the community room. The president of each user group or association will meet to discuss operational issues or any logistical problems and ideas for the facility.
