After six successful seasons, Coach Pete Doubek has decided to step down as Alpena High School Varsity Hockey Coach.

According to a statement issued by AHS Athletic Director Tim Storch, Doubek brought renewed interest and success to the hockey program and his leadership on and off the ice will be hard to replace.

This past season, the Wildcats enjoyed one of their most successful seasons in recent memory, finishing 2nd in the Big North Conference with a record of 18, eight and two, including significant victories over Sault Ste Marie, Escanaba, Cadillac, and Cheboygan.

The Wildcats had an exciting run in the District 3 State tournament before losing to Big Rapids late in the final overtime stanza.

Doubek has been involved with Wildcat Hockey for two decades.
