The Tigers will send Max Scherzer to the mound tonight in Toronto. Scherzer,
now 12-and-0 on the year, is 3-and-0 in five starts against the Blue Jays.
Tigers third baseman Miguel Cabrera is questionable after leaving last night's
game early with a sore back. Detroit is a half-game behind Cleveland for first
place in the AL Central.

The Tigers have begun signing international prospects. According to a press
release from the Dominican Prospect League, the Tigers have signed 16-year old
shortstop Hector Luis Martinez for $400,000. Baseball America also reported that
the Tigers have signed catcher Elys Escobar for $350,000. The 6-foot, 175 pound
Martinez was selected to play in the 2013 DPL All-Star game. He is the nephew of
Vladimir Guerrero, who hit 449 home runs in the major leagues from 1996 to 2011.

The Red Wings used a compliance buyout on defenseman Carlo Colaiacovo. He was
placed on waivers today (Wednesday), the first step in the process, and if
Colaiacovo clears by noon Thursday, the Red Wings will pay off two-thirds of his
remaining $2.85 million actual salary. The 30-year old Colaiacovo played only
six games during the regular season because of a right shoulder injury. He
played nine games in the playoffs with one assist.

The Pistons' search for help continues. According to various reports, Detroit
has offered Charlie Villanueva and Rodney Stuckey to the Raptors for Rudy Gay.
Team officials in Detroit have yet to confirm the reports. Gay averaged 18.2
points and 6.1 rebounds last season in Toronto. Villanueva and Stuckey are in
the last year of their contracts.
