The Pistons and Warriors will meet on the hardwood tonight in Auburn Hills. Detroit is coming off an 89-79 win against Cleveland, while Golden State is looking to bounce back following a 102-94 loss to Orlando. At 6-and-13, the Pistons are just three-and-a-half games out of first in the Central Division.
The Lions have signed former Utica Eisenhower receiver Lance Long. Long, who played for Detroit in the preseason, has also spent time with the Arizona Cardinals and Kansas City Chiefs. The Lions have also placed receivers Titus Young and Ryan Broyles on injured reserve. Meanwhile, safety Louis Delmas, defensive tackle Corey Williams and offensive lineman Gosder Cherilus missed practice today because of various injuries. Detroit will play at Green Bay on Sunday night.
A small group of owners and players are meeting again today in New York for another round of labor talks. NHL Commissioner Gary Bettman issued a statement saying he and the league's Board of Governors are pleased with where the process is at, but offered no further details. Although both sides say progress has been made, NHL Players Association special counsel Steve Fehr says there is still a lot of work to be done. The NHL lockout is in its 81st day.
The Tigers have yet to make a free agent move at the baseball Winter Meetings in Nashville. General manager Dave Dombrowski says they have talked to a lot of teams, but have not made an official move. Dombrowski also said Detroit isn't looking to do a whole bunch of big things either. Meanwhile, Tigers pitcher Anibal Sanchez is a popular guy this week. According to various reports, the White Sox and Red Sox are among at least six teams interested in signing the right-hander.
