Wish List Needs for Alpena County Roads

Alpena County Road Commission board members received a 2 page wish list of some proposed and to be completed road projects Tuesday, that Managing Director Larry Orcutt assembled for review.

"A lot of times, we're encouraged that we're making progress, but as time goes by, we're having to re-address roads that we've already done in my career," Orcutt said.

Some projects on the list include reconstruction to parts of Herron Road, Wolf Creek Road south of Nicholson Hill to the county line, part of Bloom Road east of Wessel, and Werth Road from Mud Creek to Spruce Road.

Other possibilites include Catho Road between Long Rapids and Lacomb, two miles of Jacks Landing Road, and Spruce Road between Nicholson Hill and Hurbert may be possible.

Overall, Money is the question, as some projects push well over a million dollars. One way to preserve pavement at reduced costs is to do thin pavement overlays, as might be the case with French Road between Bloom and LaComb in the next few years.

(L-R) Larry Orcutt addresses Road Commission Board Members Tom Spaulding, Fred Sterns, and Tom Heise.
