Rogers City - Strategic Planning

Rogers City Council members have kept quite busy this week so far, as they met in workshop session Monday and regular meeting Tuesday.
One issue that came up is long term strategic planning, and Mayor Scott McLennan says the workshop session included prioritizing initiatives to focus on, and supplementing the city master plan.
"We're taking an organized approach to community planning, and it's extraordinary to get things on paper," he said, and he praised City Manager Joe Hefele for work he has done to facilitate the process.
Must haves include things like continuing a long term city street and infrastructure process, funding those with about 2-hundred thousand dollars a year. That will be done on a rotating basis, addressing the worst areas first. Another must have is equipment replacement, and purchasing new items on a rotating basis as well.
On the wish list, or would like to have list are things that are needed to move the city foreword, but may have to wait a bit, such as a splash park which would have to likely be grant funded and require a match.
McLennan observing that some things may have to wait, but overall, efforts are being made to look at grants whenever possible, and develop budgets for expense items.
