Alpena Sheriff Beefs Up Patrols in Area Schools
Tue, 06 Mar 2018 09:20:41 EST
Officials of the Alpena County Sheriff Office say they will be conducting more routine patrols in Alpena County schools located in rural areas.

Authorities say due to the most recent incident at Ella White Elementary School and school shootings around the country, the agency is reviewing and updating policies and procedures that will help be better prepared to protect our students and schools.

There will be a more visible presence of deputies daily at three outlying elementary schools; Hinks, Sanborn and Wilson. While not on other calls, Deputies will make every available effort to show a law enforcement presence, mostly at the start and end of the school day.

Currently the Sheriff Office provides a full time school resource deputy at Thunder Bay Junior High School while Alpena City Police provides a full time officer at the
Alpena High School and others as needed in the city within their jurisdiction.
