As the result of the state awarding over 5-hundred 18 thousand dollars in grants through the Skilled Trades Training Fund, 14 employers in Northeast Lower Michigan will be able to provide training to workers.

The program was established in 2013 to develop the state’s talent; helping employers fill thousands of available Professional Trades jobs. The grants help ensure Michigan employees have skills required for in-demand jobs and employers have professional talent they need to grow and thrive.

Since inception, officials say the grants have helped companies create 14-thousand (14,000) jobs and retain over 56-thousand (56,000) over five years of the program.
