Unemployment Rates Decline Slightly in Most Labor Markets

According to the State Department of Technology, Management and Budget, seasonally unadjusted unemployment rates in October edged down in 16 of the state’s 17 major labor market areas.

The rate in the Northeast Lower Michigan region was unchanged from September to October, but moved slightly higher from 5-point 7 last year to 5-point 8 this year.

October rates in Northeast Lower Michigan counties included;

Alpena 4-point 7 percent
Cheboygan 4-point 9
Otsego 5-point 2
Oscoda County 6 percent even
Alcona 6-point 1
Iosco 6-point 2
Presque Isle County 6-point 3
and Montmorency, the most unemployed county of 83 in the state was at 8-point 3.

The state was 4-point 2 percent in October, which was down from 4-point 8 percent last year.
