A 47 year old Harrisville woman pleaded guilty in Alcona County's 81st District Court Wednesday morning (11-22) for embezzlement.

Michelle Krisan was arraigned earlier this month on two felony counts, count one was embezzlement over $1,000.00 under $20,000.00 from a nonprofit or charitable organization, the other computer - using to commit a crime. She pleaded guilty to both of those, and each of the crimes is punishable by up to ten years in prison.

The charges stem from an investigation by Michigan State Police over the summer that was initiated after a report of missing funds from the Alcona Athletic Association was filed.

According to reports, the past treasurer of the association had stepped down in July of 2013, and Krisan, who was president of the organization took over as treasurer.

Later, bank statements indicated more than $5,000.00 ($5,243.43) had been misappropriated and used for Krisan's personal interests. She was arrested in October and posted bond.

The Alcona Athletic Association was disbanded about a year ago, and the bank account frozen.

She is scheduled to be sentenced December 19th.
