Montmorency Agencies Respond to 133 Calls

Montmorency emergency service agencies responded to 133 calls for service in the past week ending Sunday (26).

Deputies investigated 16 car deer crashes, four each of animal control incidents, alarms and disputes. They also made four warrant arrests, and one arrest each for drug related, traffic and Operating While Intoxicated.

Saturday morning (25th), a deputy responded to County Road 451 in Montmorency Township for a roll over with no one around. The crash apparently occurred the previous evening and went unreported until morning. During an investigation, the apparent owner arrived at the scene. Two road signs and a building were damaged, and Hillman Fire was advised of, and contained a fuel spill. A cleanup company was contacted for remediation and the DEQ was also advised. The incident remains under investigation.

Sunday morning, a deputy responded to a domestic dispute said to be in progress at a residence on County Road 491 near Agren Road in Albert Township. After an investigation, a 23 year old Lewiston man was taken into custody on a charge of domestic assault.

Later that evening, a conservation officer made a traffic stop for shining, and a 28 year old male was arrested for a warrant out of Montmorency County, while a 45 year old male from Westland was also arrested for possession of marijuana.

Tri-Township EMS had 13 runs, Hillman had ten, and Lewiston six, while the Hillman Fire Department had three runs and Canada Creek one.
