Live 5 Pipeline Report Available - Public Comment Accepted
Tue, 21 Nov 2017 06:02:18 EST
A 379-page report on possible alternatives to the Line 5 pipeline below the Straits of Mackinac is complete.

The public now has a chance to offer written comment for a 30 day period to the Department of Environmental Quality, and at public meetings scheduled for December.

Some alternatives suggested include using different modes of transportation, like trains and tanker trucks, and by barge, or new pipelines routed elsewhere away from the straits.

Once an alternative is found, the existing pipelines would be shut down.
