Backers of legalized marijuana in Michigan say they will turn in more than 360- THOUSAND petition signatures today to put the question to state voters next year.
That's above the required 252-THOUSAND signatures.
The Coalition to Regulate Marijuana Like Alcohol wants to legalize the recreation use of marijuana in Michigan, similar to laws approved in Colorado and Washington state.
If the signatures are approved by the Board of Canvassers, the proposal then goes to the legislature. If they approve the proposal, it becomes law. Otherwise, state voters decide in next fall's election.
