Public Boil Water Notice Update
Sun, 19 Nov 2017 06:47:12 EST

Suez Environment and the City of Alpena Water Utility issued a City Wide Boil Water Notice over the weekend.

As previously reported, the City of Alpena Water Utility experienced a large scale main break in front of the Water Treatment Plant on State Avenue Friday (November 17th). As a result, the Water System Pressure decreased significantly.

As a precaution, people have been advised to boil all water prior to using it for drinking or cooking purposes until further notice. Boiling should be vigorous for a minimum of five minutes.

Alpena Township Water Department also issued a boil water order and said it affects customers in the entire Alpena Township.

Suez and City Water Utility issued an update saying the break has been isolated and is in the process of being repaired. Samples have been collected from the system and results will be available soon. If the test results are negative then the Boil Water Notice will be lifted at that time.

If you have any questions, call the Alpena Water Utility Office (354-1400) or Township of Alpena Water Department (989-356-2851).
