Members of the Farwell School District Board of Education have selected a Rogers City School administrator as their new superintendent.
Tuesday, the Farwell board voted to offer the job to current Rogers City Superintendent David O'Bryant. As a result, board members and O'Bryant will meet Monday in an effort to finalize a contract deal.
If a contract is finalized, it would be a return to O'Bryant's roots, as he was a graduate of Evart High School which is just west of Farwell near Clare.
O'Bryant said of the offer "I am amazed by the support of the Farwell Board, staff and community, and I am grateful for this opportunity.”
Farwell schools had hired the Michigan Leadership Institute in July to conduct a superintendent search with a goal to fill, and have a new person in place by January.
O'Bryant has served as Superintendent of Rogers City for the past two years, and was a 6th through 12th grade principal for five years before that. He also served in roles of transportation, custodial / maintenance for seven years, and three years as an athletic director.
