Alpena County Commissioner Finance Committee members were recently given a status update of their current budget (15th), and through October, the numbers were encouraging.

Treasurer Kim Ludlow said as of October 31st, over 8 point 3 million in revenue was collected ($8,330,231.82), or around 92 percent (92.22%) of the budget, which was slightly higher than last year.

Expenses amounted to 7 point 4 million dollars ($7,425,968.06), or about 79 percent (79.51%), which was also slightly higher than last year.

The county had over 5-point 3 million dollars on hand ($5,372,440.84) of which over 6-hundred 59 thousand ($659,536.00) was reserved.

Ludlow observed that some additional revenue and lower expenses are helping to shrink a deficit that was anticipated at the start of the year. As she noted last month, Ludlow still anticipates additional revenue which should reduce this years projected deficit to near, or at zero by the end of the year.
