During their meeting Wednesday night (November 15th), Alpena Community College (ACC) Board of Trustees heard an update regarding the project to renovate Van Lare Hall.

Officials noted Cornerstone Architects, the architecture firm in charge of renovations to Van Lare Hall that the board approved of at their special meeting back in October (31st), has been on campus for two weeks to meet with college staff.

ACC Director of Facilities Nick Brege updated the board on the progress saying last week was the first of a series of user group meetings for the affected stakeholders of the project. The meetings will help decide how much room will be used for the nursing program as well as what the overall renovation to Van Lare Hall will look like among other things.

Brege went on to say that the hope is to have the schematic design phase finished and possibly even have some mock-ups of the renovation plan by the end of January.

The College Center for Health Sciences and Student Success program was awarded over 3-point 3 million dollars ($3,350,000.00) to be matched by the college. State and local dollars will go towards renovations and upgrades to Van Lare Hall to house an expanded Nursing Program and Center for Student Success.
