UPDATE - Efforts to Restore Power Continue
Thu, 07 Dec 2017 06:03:12 EST
Winds may have died down, but many are still without power as sustained gale-force winds caused catastrophic outages earlier this week.
Line crews for Presque Isle Electric & Gas Co-op assisted by Wolverine Power will continue working to restore service to around 800 customers. The majority of those are seasonal homes on Bois Blanc Island and a crew was scheduled for the island ferry this (Thursday) morning, weather and lake conditions permitting.
There are at least 13 broken poles along with widespread tree and line damage, and today's weather may hamper restoration efforts. Officials hope to have all major circuits operational today, while other isolated situations may take longer.
Consumers Energy reported around a thousand locations without power, mainly north of East Tawas, Southwest of Glennie, and east of Mikado. The majority of those areas should see service restored today as well.
