Some Still without Power

Winds have died down but some are still without power.

Line crews for Presque Isle Electric & Gas Co-op continue to restore service, but still had roughly 2,000 customers without power. About a quarter of those are on Bois Blanc Island, most of which are seasonal homes.

They have scheduled a crew for the island ferry for Thursday morning, weather and lake conditions permitting. Sustained gale-force winds caused catastrophic outages across the state yesterday including all counties in PIE&G’s service territory in northeast Michigan.

They are aware of at least 12 broken poles and widespread tree and line damage. Winter weather may contribute to additional outages and longer repair times. Wolverine Power’s four crews have been assisting since yesterday.

Most repairs on larger circuits should be completed sometime late today, but service to smaller and individual circuits will not be restored until Thursday (12-7).

Members who are currently without power should prepare to be without power for another day. Current conditions should be available on an outage map at pieg.com.
