Stuff a Blue Goose for Christmas
Wed, 06 Dec 2017 12:00:24 EST
In the 5th annual effort, Michigan State Police are asking you to help "Stuff a Blue Goose for Christmas".

The Blue Goose is a nick name for a patrol car by troopers, and it's those troopers who spearhead a toy and non-perishable food drive to help families in need during the Christmas season.

There will be "Blue Goose" cars located at Walmart and Neiman's Family Market Saturday, December 9th from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. just waiting to be filled with donations from anyone willing to help out. Toys should be unwrapped.

Donations can be made prior to the event at the Michigan State Police Alpena Post located at 3283 West Washington Avenue in Alpena.

Toys will be turned over to the Vietnam Veterans of America - Chapter 583 for distribution to families in Alcona, Alpena, Montmorency and Presque Isle counties. Food items will be turned over to the Salvation Army in Alpena.

Last year, the effort resulted in a State Police SUV being stuffed seven times and Charger patrol cars five times. A final count resulted in nearly 15-hundred toys and close to 56-hundred food items being collected.

All are welcome to make donations and for more information, contact Community Service Trooper Ashley Simpson at the Alpena Post.
