Changes to CFNEM Grant Cycles

The Community Foundation for Northeast Michigan (CFNEM) announced a change to its grant cycles that is now in effect taking its Community Impact grant from three annual grant cycles to two per year.
CFNEM Executive Director Patrick Heraghty said, “Because these grants allow us to address our communities’ most pressing needs as they change year to year, we expect this shift to two deadlines to result in larger grant amounts that will provide a more significant impact on the region we serve.”
The new strategic plan was approved in September, and includes streamlining the current grant process, adding an additional staff person and realigning current positions, as well as future development of a strategic grant making focus.
Nonprofit representatives who are familiar with CFNEM’s grants will notice that mini-grant applications are no longer available. While nonprofits may still request amounts up to $5,000, all requests will use the same application.
The new grant deadline structure covering Alcona, Alpena, Montmorency and Presque Isle counties is January and July 15th for Community Impact Grants, January and October 15th for Northeast Michigan Youth Advisory Council Grants, and July 1st for Northeast Michigan Women’s Giving Circle Grants.
