Alpena Village Project - Phase One Continues Thu, 08 May 2008 15:32:20 The two-story, forty-eight apartment building of Alpena Village is over 60-percent complete, and construction of the first condominium homes will start soon. A ground baking ceremony for condo construction is on Friday, May 9th at 11:00 a.m. at the site off of Wilson street, adjacent to Alpena Community College. 80 condos are planned and will be built after purchase, with residents able to move in four to six months later. Alpena Village is an active adult community for residents 55 years and above. The project has been in the works for about a decade. Of the benefits, Alpena Village Officials note there is "No responsibility for home maintenance, and increased free time to visit with family and friends or pursue other interests." The new community will also house a community center, assisted living and memory care, and is in close proximity to places like ACC, the Jesse Besser Museum, Northern Lights Arena, Thunder Bay Recreation Center, local theaters, and downtown. For more information about renting apartments or about condos, call the Village at 356-3396. |
