It Is Official - There Is A 1908 Time Capsule In Onaway Wed, 07 May 2008 10:06:24 The City of Onaway is planning to go back in time this summer. A local Mason recently removed the cornerstone of the Historic Courthouse and found that a 100-year old time capsule actually existed. The tin box of items from 1908 was apparently placed there under the guidance of City co-founder Merrit Chandler. The Courthouse Restoration Committee in Onaway will now plan a ceremony for July 4th to remove and unveil the items to the public. If salvageable, items will be displayed in City Offices. The capsule would then be replaced with 2008 items. City Manager Joe Hefele mentioning He'll start seeking ideas on new contents from residents in the greater Onaway area in the near future. |
