Road Commission to Donate Gravel for Air Show Wed, 07 May 2008 4:07:28 The Alpena County Road Commission is doing its part to help an air show scheduled to be held this summer at the Alpena County Regional Airport. Commissioners voted Tuesday afternoon to donate gravel to the county to be used for building an extra entrance road from M-32 into the airport, a distance of about 500 feet. Airport officials want the extra entrance to alleviate traffic on the day of the air show, which is planned for August 23. However the commission will not hand the gravel over until officials lay out the specifics of their plan. Managing Director Larry Orcutt said the commission wants to be sure the material is used. He estimates that 150 tons of gravel will be needed for the roughly 500-foot roadway. |
