Alpena Township To Receive FireFighting Equipment Tue, 06 May 2008 15:15:09 Alpena Township will soon have a new piece of equipment to help with structure and vehicle fires. A 689-dollar brass In-line foam eductor is expected to arrive at Southside fire in a couple of weeks. The unit is portable and replaces a system on the Township's fire engine two, which Fire Officials say has not been working properly for about 10-years. How it works... the foam mixes with water, acts like a blanket, and travels farther to enhance fire fighting. Fire Officials indicated the use of foam actually saves the department money, as putting the substance on hot spots or burned stumps save trips back to the fire site. |
