Hyperbaric Wound Center In Alpena Still Closed
Mon, 05 May 2008 15:13:19
No word yet, as to when Alpena Regional Medical Center can reopen the Hyperbaric Wound Treatment Center.

The Hospital is still waiting on the State for an inspection.

This past February, the hospital was ordered by the Michigan Bureau of Fire Service to shut down the facility for not following the proper guidelines for standards of operations.

Hospital Officials had explained the issue deals with building occupancy in relation to fire regulations. Basically, the State considers the Center a hospital occupancy....for inpatient use or overnight stays, as it is attached to the hospital. The hospital, on the other hand, says the Center is a business occupancy and only serves outpatients.

The Hyperbaric Wound Center became operational about four months ago and serves patients who may have carbon monoxide poisoning or slow healing wounds. It's located at the former dialysis area in the North wing of the hospital, first floor.
