Stillion To Retire From The Alpena Library

After 37 years at the Alpena County Library, Executive Director Judi Stillion has decided to end her career.

Stillion says, "It's time to have a change in my life." She mentioned her husband has been retired for six years and She has grandkids in Florida.

Stillion's retirement is effective this August. She's served as Executive Director for 10 years, Assistant Director for several years before that, and as a Children's Librarian.

Stillion says, "I loved the job. I still do." and feels She's leaving behind a great staff, a Library board with no hidden agendas, and a progressing Library. During Her tenure, Stillion notes she's watched the library grow from six employees to 27, a budget from 200-thousand to 1.5-million, and annual circulation from 25-thousand checkouts to 317-thousand.

The Library is in the process of searching for Stillion's successor, with applications being accepted through May 15th. Applicants must have a Masters Degree in information and science, and 4 to 8 years of Public Library experience. For additional details, call the Library at 356-6188, extension 11.
