Seven students from Judy Cooper's German Class at Alpena High School recently shared a cultural experience with the District's School Board.

In March, a group of seven Germans stayed with AHS Students and their families.

The Alpena students were very enthusiastic about their experience and showed the School Board a picture slide show of trips to Traverse City, the Forty mile point lighthouse, and making maple syrup. Student said the benefit of the visit was newfound friends, and that sharing a cultural experience brought their families closer together.

Four Alpena students plan to visit Germany this summer for a similar experience.

Alpena Superintendent Brent Holcomb talked briefly about exchange programs, noting of increased requirements in the State. He says, "I just think, it really really matters."... adding, "Those are things we'll continue to encourage here."
