Alpena Woman Honored By National Tennis Association Sat, 03 May 2008 5:57:38 An Alpena woman is being recognized for her efforts to enhance the sport of tennis in Alpena. Vickie Lampel recently received the United States Tennis Association - Midwest Section’s Stanley Malless Award at a luncheon in Indianapolis. The award is given to a volunteer for distinguished service in his or her district, and honors a person's contribution to the development of tennis programs from the grass roots up for five years or more. Lampel is a charter member of the Alpena Tennis Association, and has played a key role introducing Tennis to area youth, adults, and college age students through various programs, clubs, and other opportunities. She has also been honored by the Northern Michigan Tennis Association as its 2007 Volunteer of the Year. |
