Alpena Township Nature Preserve Draft Plan Done Thu, 01 May 2008 15:33:32 The Alpena Township Nature Preserve Committee has completed a draft management plan for property off of Misery Bay road. The goal to preserve and protect the 133-acre Nature Preserve in Alpena Township, so it's used for quiet recreation, education, and research. The plan documents existing conditions including soils, plant and wildlife communities, geology, water resources, views, recreation activities, existing trails and development. The Committee will host an open house on May 8th at 7 pm at Alpena Township Hall to present the draft plan and gather input from the public. Information will be used to help refine the final plan, which will be submitted to the Township board of Trustees for approval. To view the draft plan, go online www.nemcog.org. |
