Embezzlement Complaint In Cheboygan

State Police recently investigated an embezzlement complaint at the Schultz's Party Store in Cheboygan County's Wolverine.

The Store sells reloads for debit cards to customers, and the Store Owner suspected that a store Clerk was stealing the reloads without payment.

A search of financial records revealed an employee had stole the pin number of another employee in order to access the computerized system, and used it to obtain reloads for personal use.

The loss is estimated at around 75-hundred dollars, and occurred between October 2007 and March 2008.

24-year old Trisha Lynn Nestell of Indian River was arrested and arraigned today (Wednesday) on charges of using a computer to commit a crime, embezzlement over one thousand dollars, illegal use of a financial transaction device, and habitual offender, 2nd offense. Nestell's preliminary exam is set for May 14th at 1:30 pm.

If sentenced, She faces up to seven years in prison and a 10-thousand dollar fine. Nestell had worked at Schultz's Party store as a clerk for the past two year, and was fired after evidence was obtained.
