Alpena Man Charged In Death Of Patrons Of Fairview Restaurant Crash Wed, 30 Apr 2008 7:05:49 An Alpena man was formally arraigned in Oscoda County's 81st District Court in Mio on charges related to a fatal crash that occurred last November in Fairview. The charges against 52 year old Dean Edward Hudson of Alpena include 2 counts of homicide manslaughter with a motor vehicle and 4 counts of felonious driving. The charges resulting from an accident as Hudson was southbound on M-33 when his vehicle crashed into the Fairview Coffee Shop And Bakery. Entering the building, the vehicle struck several patrons inside and seven people, along with the driver were taken to area hospitals... 4 with serious injuries. Restaurant patrons, 70 year old Virgil Edwin Spainhower of Glennie was pronounced dead at the scene and 61 year old Ruby Jean Lane of Grayling later died at a hospital. Police indicated that alcohol was not a factor in the accident and continued their investigation for the past few months. Hudson is free after posting a 50 thousand dollar bond, and is scheduled to appear for a preliminary exam in 81st District Court in Mio on June 19th (11:00 AM). |
