Water Recycling Plant Window Replacement Brings Questions From Alpena Council Wed, 30 Apr 2008 5:34:42 The City of Alpena Recently opened bids for window replacements at it's water treatment plant, with bids coming back much higher than expected. The city had budgeted and estimated 18 thousand for the project, but the bids ranged from 26 thousand up to 29 thousand. Why a 1 hundred 50 percent increase ? Staffers explained that budgeted figures were from preliminary figures from the water plant, but a change to tinted glass and a more energy efficient version added to the cost. It was felt that since the portion of the building that was previously unheated will be in the future, so there will be a cost savings in the future. |
