Jim
Spleet started his broadcasting career in 1973 with KVK-22 TV as a
board operator, cameraman, director and producer. In October 1973, he
worked as a Disc Jockey and in 1974 moved to WATZ, having worked in most
departments of the station. For over 20 years, he has worked as a sales
consultant.
Jim
is married to Debra and has one daughter and one son.
He enjoys boating and computers and loves a good movie.
Jim
is very active
in the community as a member of the Lafarge Downtown Riverfest committee,
the Community Ambassadors of the Alpena Area Chamber of Commerce, On the
Board of Directors for the Alpena Area Chamber of Commerce, Member of the
Board of Directors of Northeastern Michigan Rehabilitation and Opportunity
Center, Inc. a 3rd degree member of the Knights of Columbus Council 529.
Past member of the Alpena Winter Carnival Committee, past board
member of Alpena Jaycee’s, past president of the St. Bernard’s
Pastoral Council. He
co-hosted the MDA Telethon on WBKB-TV for 17 years, and has
been involved with many local fundraisers over the years.
Jim
considers living in Northeast Michigan a privilege and enjoys giving back
to the community where he and his family live and work.
